    Advertising Etiquette

Corresponding via the World Wide Web, producing advertising buttons, T- shirts and Mouse Pads presents communicators with the task of overcoming the lack of nonverbals in communication. When working in this environment, it is important to remember several points of etiquette that will smooth communication between the students, instructors, school and their community.

    1. Avoid language or images that may come across as strong or offensive. Language and images can be easily misinterpreted in written and graphical communication. If a point must be stressed, review the statement or image to make sure that an outsider reading it would not be offended and then post the statement or image. Humour and sarcasm may easily be misinterpreted as well, so try to be as matter-of-fact and professional as possible.

The Mouse Pad can be aligned with your Business Stationary Design project. If you would like to create something else, please ask your instructor.

Please have your instructor check your work before printing and pressing the buttons, T-shirts and Mouse Pads.

    TIPs -

When designing - remember what colour of fabric you are printing to the colour as it is the background colour for your image
When printing your transfer - get your teacher or student assistant to help as there are 2 types of transfers one for colour and one for white

    - White fabric transfers are printed in reverse (because they are flipped during print set up)

    - Black or other colours use a different process where the art is not reversed but is instead heat pressed on as is. Be sure to ask your teacher about this method.

Check to see if your white transfers are hot or cool peel ....... this is important as it will affect your final product quality if you wait until a hot peel is peeled when cool.

Set the temperature on the Press thermostat to 350 degrees F
    - check to see that the timer is set for about 18 seconds

Show creativity, originality and have some fun!

    NOTE:
The press is hot and can burn you!
Please ask your teacher for instruction on the press before use.
